Dashcode is everything you need to create great Dashboard widgets.With Dashcode you will have your widget running in minutes, even if you've never written a line of code. You will start your project by selecting one of the bundled templates, creating a valuable widget that is ready to run - and ready to be customized. The integrated workspace will have you smoothly transitioning from design and layout, to editing code, to debugging JavaScript, and finally deploying your great new widget.

Show you are in the know with the iPhone Widget on your Dashboard. The Shredder Widget ntroducing the digital document shredder. You're familiar with them around the office - those loud devices that leave mountains of finely shredded paper in their wake. Not you can have the convenience and security of a digital document shredder right in your Dashboard; even better, its 100% silent and doesn't leave shredded bits about for you to clean up later. It's variable shred levels give you just the amount of protection you need.
Low: Bypass the trash can. Though this isn't as secure a deletion of your files, it is a quick way to get rid of those files you know you don't need, leaving the trash can for those things you just might want to dig out later.
Medium: Secure erase. This mode overwrites your shredded documents with a US Department of Defence compliant 7 pass procedure.
High: Virtual Paper Pulp. Use this setting for only the most sensetive files. Though it might be slow, the 35 pass Gutmann algorithm will ensure that no data from these files is ever recovered.
The digital document shredder is everything you need to feel secure while sitting in front of your Mac. And, with the upcoming release of Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard with Time Machine, this widget will step up to the task of making sure that not even travel backward through time can recover the data you want to permanently remove from your system. Be careful, though: shredding is total and permanent, and Interdimension Media assumes no responsibility for any loss of data that you may incur through its use (that's the point, though, right?). Just watch out; the desire to round up some digital scraps of paper just for the satisfaction of watching them shred to bits may overtake you.
To shred a document, click and drag a file from the Finder. Then use a hotkey (F12 by default) to call up Dashboard, keeping the document in hand. Drop it on the shredder to permanently erase it from your system.
Geek Proposes via Dashboard Widget Some would call this a story of love between two geeks. Apparently, some dork who goes by the username “Bjorn” on Flickr proposed to his girl by coding out a custom Dashboard widget. Shaped like a ring box, the widget has an image of a diamond engagement ring and the message “Jennifer Christensen Will You marry me?” He told her to hit F12 and the rest is history.Awwww. Who says geek romance is dead. I wonder where the reception is being held - Fry’s or Circuit City?
Apple changes webpage design If you have been watching the osx apple widget page you will have noticed that instead of showing each widget with a small thumbnail of the actual widget but rather the widget icon. Who knows why this has been but it does in my mind look a bit cleaner and more professional. It also reduces space on the page for scrolling and lets you see just enough to tease you so that you are intrigued enough to actually find more information on that mysterious widget.
